It's been a while since I last wrote, but I've got a good excuse: Vacation Bible School. I haven't seen the figures yet, but we had hundreds and hundreds of students, served by dozens and dozens of teen helpers and teachers. It was a great two weeks of singing and dancing for the Lord.
The sermon this Sunday was all about what the kids have been singing about these past two weeks: "The Truth About Love." Jesus tells us "Love your enemies; do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you" (Lk 6:27-28). Love like that is not natural for us. Love like that goes against everything we know and have experienced. But sends us out into the world to love like that, because that's how God loves the world.
Listen to the sermon here Monday morning.
