Jesus Reaches out to Reconcile

Nice to be back after a week of vacation.

We started a new sermon series, doubling-back to spend more time on third part of our Vision: Reach Out in Mission.  The lesson this morning was 2nd Corinthians 5:14-6:2, which drives home the point that we Reach Out in mission to others because God has Reached Out to us in Jesus Christ.

Jesus died for all people.  Now, that doesn't mean that all are saved.  A person needs to have faith in what Christ has done for them.  But it does mean that all people can be saved.  There is not a man, woman, or child beyond the reach of God's grace or the love of Christ.  Since Jesus died for all people, we live to serve all people.

Jesus died for all people once and for all on the Cross.  That's when God reconciled the world to himself, not counting men's sins against them but burying the hatchet with us.

Problem is, we keep going back and digging it up.  That's why Paul urges us to be reconciled to God, putting our faith in trust in what he has done for us.

Listen to the sermon here.
